The former governor of Anambra State and 2019 Vice Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) His Excellency Mr Peter Gregory Onwubuasi Obi (Okwute Ndigbo) yesterday commenced an interactive tour of Wards and LGAs in Anambra State.
The Christmas and Easter interactive tour which was scheduled to run earlier could not hold due to very critical circumstances bothering on the health risks of the novel coronavirus pandemic among other challenges.
The LGAs visited yesterday were Ihiala, Ekwusigo, Nnewi South, Nnewi North and Idemili South. He was accompanied to the LGAs by Comr Okey Asolo, Hon Barr CJ Okoli Akirika, Dr CC Okeke, Chief Francis Udeoba and Chief Emmanuel Ebene. Other members of the his Excellency’s entourage to this special program were Chief Nnamdi Nwangwu, Hon Vin Atuigwe, Chief Gozie Aniesona, Hon Tony Ezike, Hon Emma Ifechigha and Hon Jerome Igwe.
The revered statesman was consistent in delivering his messages at each point, listing out the challenges ahead of the country and Anambra State in particular, proffering solutions to critical concerns, as well as appealing to the citizens to embrace peace and be part of the design and implementation of the Anambra State that will meet our dreams.
Peter Obi made it clear that Nigeria has become so bad that it is now extremely difficult to amend. He blamed the rising wave of insecurity across the land on cumulative administrative failure over the years, which not only indicted leaders including him, but also put them on a spot in view of deploying urgent intervention or facing the palpable state of anarchy.
Okwute made it clear that the way the country is headed, everybody could become criminals given that a man who is not sure of his next meal could take anything in sight that doesn’t belong to him, just to survive. According to him, these and more were the reasons general decided to interface with selected representatives of the party to discuss the way forward.
Hear him:
“I wish to express sincere appreciation to have you honour this invitation for critical review of our life and character as a people. It is not like you came for the gift items because I know that many of you here can afford just as much, yet you left your businesses to attend this meeting which I see as an uncommon show of love for one another and desire for a better future”.
“These gift items comprising bags of rice, cartons of beverages and it’s cash component are my token gift to you, but most important is the opportunity for us to come together and discuss our situation, prospects and challenges as a people”.
“I can give detailed account of specifically road infrastructure done by former governor Chris Ngige and myself. That is to say that it is very important to choose only leaders that have capacity of deploying public resources for the right purposes. If the incumbent governor had continued from there, Anambra would be better than what we have at hand”.
“Peter Obi has no choice candidate and is not interested in influencing even party portfolios. All I want is for you to give us a credible male or female candidate and I assure you, we shall do everything humanly possible to deliver the person in the general election” he added.
The tour of local government areas continues today at the central axis covering Awka North, Awka South, Njikoka and Dunukofia.
