Ifitedunu Road Commissioning: Another Testimony Of Ekwunife’s Giant Strides In Governance

On Saturday, May 15, 2021, the people of Ifitedunu in Dunukofia LGA, Anambra State experienced a taste of purposeful representation as the Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, Senator Uche Ekwunife commissioned an over 1.15km road project in the community.

Addressing the gathering, Ekwunife who is a leading aspirant for the November 6 Anambra governorship election under the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), disclosed that if elected, her government will ensure provision of basic Infrastructures such as health care, schools, good road network, adding that she will attract investors to the state by improving the ease of doing business. She noted that she has the best blueprint to return the state on the path of economic prosperity.

The Igbo-Ukwu born Senator further noted that her government will improve the standards of living of the people of the state especially those living in the rural areas. Ekwunife reassured that she will engineer simultaneous development of all sectors of the state economy. She noted that under her watch, the state will experience a radical transformation in infrastructural and human capital development, describing them as key to achieving economic growth and alleviating poverty.

While commissioning one of the most strategic and economic roads in the community named Izuchukwu Obi Avenue with dual drainage, surface dressing erosion and links to Abba and Awka, the grassroots friendly Senator reassured her commitment to conduct local government election within a year in office, noting that it is necessary in building a sustainable grassroots developmental drive in the state.

Recalling her efforts to the growth of the community, Ekwunife noted that she facilitated one of the biggest erosion menace control projects in Ifitedunu during her time in the house of representatives, adding that she secured employment for many youths of the community and beyond.

Welcoming the Senator, High Chief Vincent Udobi (Ike Dunukofia) commended Ekwunife for what he described as a paradigm shift in representation. He noted that Ekwunife has done more for the community than the previous representatives. Chief Udobi stated that the Senator is a grassroots politician, adding that she is more than capable of leading the state.

High Chief Udobi further stated that Ekwunife does not discriminate amongst communities she represents. He assured of the community’s continuous support, praying that Ekwunife will emerge as the next governor of the state.

On his part, Chief Izuchukwu Obi (Chinyelugo Dunukofia) thanked Ekwunife for the project, describing it as a very important road to the community. He narrated how impassable the road was to the community due to erosion menace, and appreciated Ekwunife for the completion of the road.

While commending the quality of the road, Chinyelugo Dunukofia noted that Ekwunife is the only lawmaker who responded to their problems, noting that she is known as Madam Project because of her numerous developmental projects across the zone. He stated that Ekwunife has fulfilled her campaign promises to the community and assured of the community’s support in her guber aspiration.

Earlier before the inspection, the Chairman Senate Committee on Science and Technology led her entourage to pay homage to the traditional ruler of Ifitedunu community, His Royal Majesty, Igwe Dr. A.C Ilouno, Eze Dunu II Nke Ifitedunu. Ekwunife thanked the traditional ruler for his fatherly support and words of encouragement in her political aspirations. She prayed God to continue to make his reign on the throne of his ancestors peaceful and prosperous. Ekwunife however commiserated with the traditional ruler over the fire incident in his palace which was consequent of an attack by yet to be identified group. She condemned the incident and called for support and encouragement for the security agencies even as she charged the law enforcement agencies to rise up to the occasion.

In his remarks, the traditional ruler hailed Ekwunife for all the projects she has done in the community, saying that she has left an indelible mark in the society. He described Ekwunife as being part of the community and prayed God to continue to bless her efforts in advancing the growth of the state.

Notably present during the visit to the Igwe’s palace was the President General of Ifitedunu, Chief Uchenna Oragwuncha, the PDP Chairman Dunukofia LGA, Chigbo Dibiaezue, a respected chief of the community, Ichie Ezekwesili Muodili, PDP LGA and ward executives amongst others.
