The leading aspirant for the November 6 governorship election under the platform of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has hailed the roles of medical practitioners in the society, noting that they deserve to be encouraged especially as they continue to lead our response to the pandemic and working tirelessly to ensure that those affected by the novel virus get adequate care.
Ekwunife made this known on Friday, May, 28, 2021, at Senator Uche Ekwunife Event Centre during the 41st general meeting of Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD). Participants of this year’s hybrid meeting: Physical and Virtual [Zoom] which was aimed for synergy between Awka/Nnewi chapters with its theme: Career Pathways For Doctors: Addressing The Needless Controversies And The Way Forward will run between 24th – 29th May, 2021.
Welcoming the Senator, the President of NARD, Dr Uyilawa Okhuaihesuyi who was represented by Dr Adejo Christopher Arome thanked Ekwunife for attending their meeting. He commended Ekwunife’s legislative engagements, describing her as a strong voice on the floor of the senate.
Dr Arome reeled out the challenges of the association which includes better wages, pleading with Ekwunife to assist in relaying their case to the Federal Government.
Reacting, Ekwunife assured that she will present their case on the floor of the Senate, adding that if she has the letter of their demands that she will work together with her colleagues to ensure that their demands are addressed.
Ekwunife further commended the leadership of the Senate, led by the Senate President, Dr. Ahmed Lawan PhD, noting that he is a sensitive, empathetic and tenacious leader who has the interest of Nigerians at heart.
Ekwunife while commending the resident doctors decried the security situation in the country. She said that we are in an unconventional period and everybody should be mindful of the activities in their respective neighborhood.
