It will amount to a deliberate misrepresentation of fact and utter negation of the stark reality on ground to either deny or dismiss the hue of disappointments that pervade the current political climate in Anambra state arising mostly from the failure of the present political actors at the state level to attend to the basic needs of the people. It is unfortunate to say that the political environment in Anambra state and by extension, the entire states of the federation have been majorly littered with a toxic debris of corruption, failed campaign promises, nepotism, misappropriation of public funds and other shades of abuses which seem to get pervasively worse with each successive government especially since the return to civil rule in 1999.
However, this ugly situation has not in any way dampened people’s enthusiasm and demand for good governance which usually hit the frenzy height whenever a major election is around the corner. As enshrined in the 1999 constitution, the current Nigerian democratic dispensation has offered the electorates a four year period to make a choice of their leadership at the federal and state levels of government through the ballot box.
Gradually, political activities in *Anambra State* have started gaining momentum as we have started counting down to *November 6th governorship election* with great expectations. The general mood of the people can largely and safely be described as fluctuating from being tensed, dismayed, disenchanted and disoriented for obvious reasons. The dismal performance of the outgoing government in the state has been so glaring to be treated with absolute disregard. Already, we are witnesses to ensuing furore blazing out from different quarters in the state as well as in the various social media spaces. But a recourse to anger and scathing criticism of the outgoing government cannot be a magic bullet to kill the ghost of poor leadership that is being left behind.
One half of knowing what you want is knowing what you must give up before you get it, so says *Sidney Bernard.* It has come to the time the electorates in Anambra state should take their destiny into their hands and speak with one voice in order to enthrone a responsible and responsive leadership which they can be proud to identify with. From a disinterested, objective and unbiased assessment of all that have declared their interest to vie for the office of the governor of Anambra state, I could only vouch for the integrity and competence of one single candidate out of the retinue of aspirants. *Senator Uche Ekwunife* is the peak of the bunch.
I have often quarreled with those who casually address her as an ordinary politician. I think that word is too pedestrian to be associated with a woman who has fought many political battles in a patriarchal society like ours and repeatedly comes out victorious. She has a servant leader character and her record of excellent service delivery always stands her out like the *Cedar of Lebanon.* However, for those who may wish to impeach the indices of my judgement, I won’t hesitate to tell you that antecedents can always be a veritable yardstick in matters of this nature.
As a *Trained Accountant* versed in the modern financial algorithms, *Iyom* has the capacity to lay a solid foundation for political evolution that will maximise the mercantile and entrepreneurial skills and ingenuity of the vast human resources we have in the state. She realizes the gamut of benefits that are inherent in a equitable and strategic allocation of the state resources in critical sectors in order to achieve sustainable economic developments.
Having been following her for donkey years, I can authoritatively affirm that *Oji Uno Eme Ogo* doesn’t hold such tyrannical ideological sentiments which limit and recognise ability only in individual self as she happens to be a person that believes strongly in the effectiveness of team work and collaborative force. On number of different occasions, *The People’s Senator* has maintained an unflinching willingness to conduct *Local Government Elections* in the state as a means to facilitate a robust and steady financial flow to every corner of the state which serves the fundamental purpose for which the third tier of government was created.
This write up seeks among other purposes to persuasively appeal those that make up *PDP Delegates* for the June 26th primary election, to try as much as possible to carry the general welfare of the good people of Anambra state at heart. I will be so profoundly grateful to see *Senator Uche Ekwunife* emerge as *PDP candidate for the November 6th governorship election.* She has the solution and capacity to solve the problems of Anambra State and make her great again.
