Anaku/Omor crisis: Administrative Panel Of Inquiry Begins Public Hearing In Awka

The Eight -Man Administrative Panel of Inquiry set up by Anambra state government to look into the communal crisis between Omor and Anaku communities, Ayamelum Local Government Area has commenced public hearing in Awka.

The terms of reference of the panel is to establish the immediate and remote causes of the crisis, interact with families and communities that claim ownership of lands in the disputed area as well as establish the boundary between Omor and Anaku.

The panel will equally recommend to Anambra state government, other possible solutions that will guarantee lasting peace in the area.

Speaking during the hearing, the chairman of the panel, Air Vice Marshall Ben Chiobi retired, thanked members of the two communities for coming and assured that the panel will do their job judiciously.

Mrs. Chinyere Nwabashiri is the Secretary of the panel, that has Chief Alex Unukwue, Chief Paul Odenigbo, Mr. Tony Chinedu, Emmanuel Nwabudo among others as members.

The panel has one month to submit its report.
