The Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, Uche Ekwunife, PhD, has flagged off the construction of another 3-bedroom bungalow for a less privileged in Abagana Community. The project is being built to accommodate Mrs. Chinwe Nwako, a widow and constituent who had lost her husband many years ago.
Amidst cheers and encomiums the performing lawmaker while preparing the groundbreaking ceremony on Wednesday, August 4, 2021, reassured her commitment to the people’s welfare. The project is amongst the second phase of housing projects facilitated by Ekwunife for the less privileged in the constituency.
Speaking at the site, the highly-elated and cheerful daughter of the beneficiary, Miss Chikodili Nwako appreciated God for using Ekwunife as an instrument to construct a befitting house for her family. She commended the Senator for her giant strides, and for always remembering the less privileged, especially widows in the zone.
In her remarks, a co-wife to the beneficiary, Mrs. Pauline Nwako offered prayers and thanksgiving towards the Senator. She noted that Ekwunife has surpassed her predecessors in both legislative activities and attracting dividends of democracy to constituents. Mrs. Nwako charged the Senator not to rest on her laurels while discharging her mandate.
On his part, Mr. Anthony Chibueze otherwise known as Ichie boys was pleased that Ekwunife has attracted projects across the length and breadth of the zone, noting that the people of the community hold her in high esteem due to her top-notch performance in the National Assembly. He said that the Abagana community will keep supporting Ekwunife in her political aspirations.
The blessing of the construction site was performed by the Parish Priest of St. Francis Catholic Church, Abagana, Rev. Fr. Cosmas Okafor.
Earlier, the Chairman Senate Committee on Science and Technology who was represented by a delegation of her project team led by the former Commissioner for Women Affairs, Lady Henrietta Agbata paid homage to the palace of the traditional ruler, HRM Igwe Obi Mbamalu Okeke. The traditional ruler on behalf of the Igwe-in-council and the entire community extended appreciation to Ekwunife for the ongoing projects she had attracted to them. He prayed God to protect and bless the Senator.
Present were the former Managing Director Anambra State Physical Planning Board, Chief Victor Okpoko, former Chairman ASUBEB, Dr Rose Nwankwo, former Accountant General of Anambra state, Mrs. Helen Nwaeri, Legislative aide to Senator Ekwunife, Mrs. Ify Chinwuko, Njikoka Youth Coordinator Senator Uche Ekwunife Campaign Organization (SUECO), Comrade Defokwu Elochukwu.
Others present include, Mr. Tochukwu Egbosimba (Abagana ward 2 coordinator SUECO), Mr. Cletus Chibueze (Abagana ward 3 Coordinator SUECO), Mr. Elochukwu Umeadi (Abagana ward 4 Coordinator SUECO) amongst others.
