Yesterday, it came as a shock and surprised to many when it was announced in a media chat that Senator Iyom Uche Ekwunife had been appointed as Chairperson of Valentine Chineto Ozigbo Campaign Organisation for November 6 Anambra state governorship election.
Those who were shocked are mainly the campaign structures, aides and followers of Senator Uche Ekwunife who felt shortchanged by the decision.
Most of the top and close political allies of Senator Ekwunife confided on AIF Media that “Madam” did not carry them along.
One of them said, “Iyom did not consult us. We heard it from media like every other person. We are waiting for her to come and explain why she made a U-turn without consulting us.”
Most of her loyalists are angry that the same ” Madam” who told them, it can be any other person but not Val, made such a U-turn without carrying them along. They are of the opinion that if she doesn’t give them good reasons, they may desert her and see how only her will deliver Val on November 6.
Meanwhile, AIF Media investigation reveals that some PDP governors met with Iyom in London where negotiations were reached. The governors led by the Sokoto state governor and that of Akwa Ibom made some treaties to her.
A source told AIF Media that huge sum of money was part of the negotiation.
However, the return of Iyom to head the campaign of Val Ozigbo is causing more crisis than bringing the party together, because Iyom did not carry her own inner and trusted allies along in her negotiation with PDP governors.
