President Zelenskiy should step down to save Ukraine from further destruction

By Anona Ugochukwu

The primary duty of every leader is the protection of his people from internal and external aggression. The current war in Ukraine  exposing Ukrainians to danger and harm shows that President Zelenskiy has failed in his duty.

Forget the Media propaganda, as of today, President Zelenskiy controls less than 10% of Ukraine (only Kyiv); Russia controls the rest of Ukraine, and this morning, Putin’s troops are marching towards the capital Kyiv. Russia controls the Ukraine airspace, land borders and water ways. I wonder how NATO and EU are going to send their help.

No matter, how you justify Zelenskiy’s world Hero status, his people are dieing everyday, destruction and more destruction are taking place. You don’t fight a war at your backyard; you will suffer huge losses.

Zelenskiy had every available tools such as diplomacy, compromise and negotiation at his disposal to stop this war. But, he preferred to take on Russia with the hope of being a Hero. Sometimes, heroes are people who save others not people that exposed others to danger.

The destruction that is happening in Ukraine now will take decades to rebuild and human lives are lost forever. Prisoners are on the street fighting war, young people are fighting war while fathers are being murdered everyday. At the end of this war, how many people will Zelenskiy rule over.

Not to mention the psychological/mental, sociocultural effects of this war on Ukrainians.

For the sake of Ukrainians, Zelenskiy should step down and a neutral leader should emerge to start the process of healing.
