Anambra South APGA Ticket is getting interesting over the case filed by Hon Ben Nwankwo against the candidate of the party, Hon Chris Chris Emeka Azubogu
Hon Ben Nwankwo the governor’s preferred choice for the party ticket after losing the ticket approached the federal high court asking the court to invalidate the primary election of Hon Chris Azubogu. He told the court tht Azubogu did not resign properly from his former party before standing for election in APGA.
Hon Azubogu in responding to the accusation in his brief told the court that the People’s Democratic Party, PDP expelled him from the party.
He submitted a letter of expulsion from his Umudim Nnewi ward as an evidence that PDP expelled him. However a check by AIF Media reveals that the ward chairman, one Chief Ndubuisi Moses Anayo who signed the expulsion letter dated March 30, 2022 is a former ward chairman of PDP in Umudim ward, Nnewi North LGA.
The tenure of Chief Ndubuisi Moses Anayo ended on February 2022. The current ward chairman, Mr Chigozie Anagbogu took over on firs week of March 2022.
Hon Ben Nwankwo is therefore asking the court to determine if a former ward chairman can expel a House of Reps member, a ranking senior party member from a party without a meeting of other ward executives.
AIF Media also discovered from the expulsion letter that the LGA chapter of the party and the state working committee was not copied.
It is unconstitutional for a ward to expel a member of the party especially an elected representative without coping the relevant organs of the party for ratification.
These are part of what Hon Ben Nwankwo are challenging at the court. With the purported letter of expulsion which is strange to many, the court case on APGA candidate for Anambra south senatorial zone is becoming interesting.
