Obi-Datti Media Office Rejects Soyinka’s Debate Challenge for Running Mate

The Obi-Datti Media Office has declined the challenge by Nobel laureate, Prof Wole Soyinka, for a public debate with the vice-presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 presidential election, Dr Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed.

In a statement on Saturday, the media office disclosed that Baba-Ahmed won’t debate with Soyinka due to cultural and political reasons, insisting that the LP candidate would rather face the candidates who ignored debates during the campaign period.

Soyinka had called for a debate with Baba-Ahmed on live television following his remark on the presidential election as “fascist language.” The Obi-Datti Media Office rebuked the statement, arguing that Soyinka’s late intervention in the flawed 2023 elections is baffling.
