Igbo Indigenes Without Border, a socio-cultural organization, has appealed to the President-elect, Sen. Bola Tinubu, and the incoming 10th National Assembly to intervene in the case of former Deputy President of the Senate, Ike Ekweremadu.
At a news conference held on Friday in Abuja, Dr. Bernard Oshi, the President of the group, implored Tinubu and the National Assembly to look into the matter with compassion and appeal to the UK government to show mercy in the case of Ekweremadu, who was convicted alongside his wife, Beatrice, by the United Kingdom Central Criminal Court in London for organ harvesting.
Oshi also called on the diplomatic corps, especially those of the United Nations, the United Kingdom, and the United States of America, to assist Ekweremadu.
The organization has been monitoring Ekweremadu’s public and private service record as a lawyer, philanthropist, politician, and patriot, and believes that his parental instinct to provide care for his sick daughter should not be punished as a crime.
During the conference, Oshi congratulated President-elect Tinubu, Vice President-elect Sen Kashim Shettima, members of the National Assembly, governors, and state assembly members, both re-elected and newly elected. He also commended President Muhammadu Buhari for his leadership and commitment to keeping Nigeria united, especially during difficult times.
Igbo Indigenes Without Border is a socio-cultural organization with membership in and outside Nigeria, particularly in China, the United Kingdom, and the United States of America.
