Dr. Chinedu Umeadi Foundation Concludes Successful 4th Annual Science Quiz Competition

Yesterday, on July 5th, 2023, the Dr. Chinedu Anthony Umeadi Foundation, in collaboration with the Post Primary Schools Service Commission (PPSSC) and the Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board (ASUBEB), successfully concluded the 4th Edition of the Annual Science Quiz Competition for Secondary Schools in Anambra.

Arinze Chiamaka Esther of Maria Regina School in Nnewi and Ezejames Chinedu Daniel of Dennis Memorial Grammar School in Onitsha emerged as the best overall winners in the competition. They were awarded the prestigious Meritorious Awards of Excellency.

The event, held at the Dora Akunyili Women Development Centre in Awka, witnessed the presence of representatives from Junior and Senior Secondary schools in Anambra, government officials, and renowned academics from the state.

During the ceremony, Vice Chancellor Prof Charles Okechukwu Esimone of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, emphasized the importance of nurturing young minds and investing in their education. He encouraged the students to strive for excellence and make significant contributions to society.

The Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Rev Paulinus Ezeokafor, reminded the students about the importance of discipline, moral values, and incorporating God into their lives. He encouraged them to face challenges with determination and maintain their zeal for learning.

Founder/CEO of the Dr. Chinedu Umeadi Foundation, High Chief Dr. Chinedu Umeadi, expressed his delight in celebrating the intellectual prowess of students in Anambra. He announced plans to offer educational scholarships to five students appointed by the Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese and two students appointed by the Vice Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University.

Hon Dr. Jude Akpua, the Deputy Majority Leader and Member Representing Njikoka 11 constituency at the State House of Assembly, praised the efforts of Dr. Chinedu Umeadi and expressed gratitude for organizing such an exceptional event. He affirmed that the Njikaoka Local Government would continue to support the foundation’s endeavors.

Mr. Anereobi Ephraim Jekwu, Director of Science and Technology at the PPSSC in Awka, commended Dr. Umeadi for his visionary approach to education and for introducing advanced Computer-Based Test (CBT) software to elevate the students’ intelligence quotient in ICT globally.

The winners in the Junior and Senior categories were awarded cash prizes, and special recognition was given to Maria Regina Model Comprehensive Secondary School in Nnewi and Dennis Memorial Grammar School in Onitsha for producing the best students in their respective categories.

The ceremony featured captivating performances by St. Johnbosco Secondary School in Unubi and a welcome song by Capital City Secondary School in Awka. Distinguished guests in attendance included HRH Obi, Sir P.M Okeke, Chief Dr. Clement and Dr. Mrs. Nduka, and other notable personalities.

The successful conclusion of the 4th Edition of the Annual Science Quiz Competition marks another milestone in the pursuit of academic excellence in Anambra State. The Dr. Chinedu Umeadi Foundation continues to play a crucial role in fostering educational growth and inspiring young minds to embrace science and technology for a brighter future.
