The Traditional Ruler of Abagana, His Royal Majesty, Igwe Mbamalu Okeke yesterday (07/01/21) played host to the new leadership of the Town Union at his Palace urging them to work for Abagana devoid of bias.
Following the failure of Abagana Welfare Union to conduct election of new Executive Officers last December and to avoid vacuum, the Government of Anambra State inaugurated a 9-man Caretaker Committee led by Hon Linus Okafor-Okunwa as Chairman and Engr Ifeanyi ANIAGOH as Secretary, to run the affairs of the Town.
The Committee led by the Special Adviser to Gov Willie Obiano on Creative Security, AVM Ben Chiobi paid visit to the Traditional Ruler as the Chief Security Officer of the Town, to brief him on the new development.
AVM Chiobi who explained the Government’s action which is aimed at avoiding a vacuum in the leadership of the Town stressed that the committee is charged to put things in place, set the town in the right direction and conduct a credible Election.
The Chairman of the Committee, Hon Linus Okafor-Okunwa while assuring that his team will carry everyone along said the Committee needs the cooperation and blessings of the Traditional Ruler to serve ndi Abagana.
In his words, “We know the challenges of our town and we’re determined to resolve them all with your support and blessing”.
“We’ve agreed that our work will be for the interest and betterment of ndi Abagana. So, I promise that none of my team members will pursue a personal interest,” he added.
Expressing his happiness with the quality of men in the Caretaker Committee, the Traditional Ruler of the Town, HRM Igwe Mbamalu Okeke charged them to “work for Abagana and serve ndi Abagana” reiterating his promise to support anyone with good intentions for the good people of Abagana.
Igwe Mbamalu went on to shower Royal blessings on the committee members saying “We will work together, consult each other and share knowledge to lift Abagana”.
Delivering the vote of thanks, the Secretary of the Committee, Engr Ifeanyi ANIAGOH expressed gratitude for the trust bestowed on them by ndi Abagana; and thanked the Traditional Ruler noting that his support and blessings will make their work easier.
“Abagana is a great town and the task of running its affairs is a huge one… With the unity of ndi Abagana, this support and blessings from our Igwe, we’ve got nothing to fear, we’ll deliver”.
The high point was the moment of Royal Handshake from the highly respected King of Abagana Kingdom.
