“No matter how good a vehicle is, once a bad driver is on the wheels getting to the destination becomes an uphill task” – this was the perfect illustration the performing Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, Uche Ekwunife, used during her meeting with Anambra south PDP stakeholders earlier this week.
The Senator who has made open her desire to become the next governor of the state had in the waning weeks of this past year and the early days of 2021 embarked on extensive consultation and stakeholders meetings, mending fences and strengthening her support base.
It appears the news of the zonal briefing of the Senator who has been described by many as “Madam Talk and Do” is still gleaming on all sides of the state. She submitted herself on December 26, 2020, during the Anambra Central Stakeholders Meeting at Senator Uche Ekwunife Centre, Awka for appraisal and was subsequently confirmed by Constituents as a Super-performing representative after she gave account of her 18 months stewardship thus far in NASS.
I guess that Ndi Anambra were still basking in the euphoria of Ekwunife’s exemplary representation upon her arrival to meet with Anambra South PDP stakeholders on January 10, 2021. The reception was unheard of, and quite astonishing.
Speaking during the meeting held recently at Ogbunka, Orumba South, Ekwunife exemplified how running responsible and responsive government are necessary to transform the light of the Nation. The Senator assured that prudence, impartiality and objectivity will be strong Pillars upon which her government will be built on. She reiterated the need for PDP to field a candidate that understands the peculiarities of the state.
Speaking further, the Chairman Senate Committee on Science and Technology said she was absolutely sure that her candidacy would take PDP to Agu Awka as her peerless antecedents in NASS speak volumes.
The stakeholders were in affirmative with the preforming Senator, describing the visit as a homecoming. Recall, that Ekwunife is from the historic Igbo-Ukwu community in Aguata LGA of Anambra state. A town better known as the earliest smithers of copper and other admixture of metals in West Africa.
The Anambra South Stakeholders meeting which held at the residence of Prof Promise Okpala had in attendance the great and the good members of PDP.
Having followed the meteoric rise of Senator Ekwunife who is making strides in lawmaking, developmental projects and women participation in politics, without chimerical chants, or perhaps, firing from the hip, I totally agree that she is the most qualified PDP Aspirant in the race to Agu-Awka.
Ndi Anambra, do we wish to drive safely to our destination? If yes, this mellifluous woman we like to call Iyom should be given the opportunity to mount the wheels of governance.
