Housing Projects: Ekwunife Provides Succour For Indigent Families

By Linus Chukwuma

On January 20, before the sun could reach the earth, arriving Umuriam village Nawfia from Awka was the Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, Uche Ekwunife, on an inspection visit of a 3-bedroom bungalow she attracted for an indigent family.

On the waiting end, was a quite vivacious Mrs. Amaka Nwune whose emotions betrayed because of the soon-to-be-completed housing Project she is a beneficiary. If I should attempt to construe her emotions, her years of dispirited, gloomy and deprived of apt abode will be over.

As is her wont, the adept Senator regards the amelioration of the condition of indigent families as a priority. A second to none, though, but not a sparse representation defines the detail-oriented Ekwunife whose 14 housing Projects is out of the ordinary.

And, anyway, I’m very correct. The Umuriam woman who is one of the beneficiaries had a profound gratitude to her maker for using a woman whom she termed 7/7 Senator to bless her family. Remembering the 2019 general elections, she said the manifestation of the mandate given to the Senator is writ large in Nawfia via the project.

Recall that Ekwunife had in November of this past year laid the foundations of housing Projects she attracted to some indigent families.

Speaking well of Ekwunife, the Vice Chairman PDP Nawfia ward 2, Emeka Allison Onuorah, appreciated the Igbo-Ukwu born Senator for the project and assured of their unflattering support in her guber aspiration. He prayed that, it will be a success.

Ekwunife, who was represented by the Anambra Central Project Monitoring Committee led by the former Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development during HE Peter Obi administration, Lady Henrietta Agbata had different locations, not exclusively Nawfia community for inspection.

And in Nri from Nawfia the monitoring train made another stop.

Grubbing up, another beneficiary of the 3-bedroom bungalow, in the historical Kingdom of Nri had a satisfactory amount of praise to go round. While the inspection betid, Mrs. Bessy Okafor thanked Ekwunife for what God has used her to do in her family as well as other less privileged families. The aged woman said that, she never expected the gesture and also thanked those who had hands in suggesting her name to the Senator.

“Nothing will stop Ekwunife from being the next governor of Anambra state because she has performed exceedingly well in National Assembly”

The granny’s language, is that of the grassroots that only persons like the Chairman Senate Committee on Science and Technology who takes representation to the remote areas deserve such paean.

The Party Executive present during the inspections visit were PDP Chairman Njikoka LGA, Chief Anaeto Chibueze (Ojukwu Njikoka) Secretary Nawfia ward 2, Mr. Thomas Okeke, Youth leader Nawfia ward 2, Odinaka Umeadi, Chairman Nri ward 2, Mr. Chijioke Okonkwo, Women leader Nri ward 2, Mrs. Gladys Anyaji and members of Senator Ekwunife’s campaign organization in the LGAs.

While members of the Project Monitoring Committee were former Accountant-General of Anambra state, Mrs. Helen Nwaeri, former General Manager Anambra State Physical Planning Board, Chief Victor Okpoko. Others include former Chairman of ASUBEB, Dr. Rose Nwankwo and the Project Manager Anambra Central Liaison Office, Mrs. Ifeyinwa Chinwuko.
