That Album and essence broke some unrealistic records and even deserve to be nominated on other mainstream categories on that Grammy.
Same thing that happened when Burna’s African Giant was nominated and he still didn’t win.
At the end of the day it all points at one thing, those Oyinbo people want to tell us how to be African and how African music should sound.
If you don’t sound like this then you’re not African enough so no award for you.
They expect animal customs and some kin woza woza sound, they want African artists to talk more about culture,traditions and politics in Africa rather than simply expressing themselves ignoring the fact that music as we all know is Art and art is subjective.
They want to put African music into a particular box.
They want that already established painting of a wretched and impoverished Africa that need help and support from others foreign countries and organizations just like you would see in their movie representation of Africa.
But most American Artists that pack the award can talk about money, women,sex, drugs and heartbreaks and still go home with dozens of Grammys.
The earlier we stop looking for their verification the better because they are not in any position to tell us what to sing and how to sing it.
Finally, congratulations to Wizkid, Burnaboy, Davido and other African Acts that is pushing Afrobeats and African music to all corners of the world.
