The Federal Government has clarified that President Muhammadu Buhari did not intervene in the recent Adamawa State gubernatorial election crisis.
The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, explained that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is responsible for dealing with the suspended Adamawa State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Hudu Yunusa-Ari, who prematurely declared the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Aisha Binani, the winner before the collation was completed.
The FG believes that the President does not micromanage any institution of government, and therefore it was entirely an INEC matter.
The Minister also addressed his recent accusation of the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, committing treason and explained his US trip’s purpose to balance skewed reports on the recent general elections.
Additionally, the Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, denied knowing that the Comptroller General of Immigration, Idaho Jere Idris, had been removed.
