Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State has expressed his approval of the appointment of former Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). Governor Fintiri, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), conveyed his appreciation for Wike’s appointment in a statement shared via his verified Twitter account.
Governor Fintiri lauded Wike’s selection, describing it as well-deserved recognition. He highlighted Wike’s dedication and hard work that have propelled him to this new role. The Adamawa governor emphasized Wike’s significant achievement in being appointed as the first opposition politician to join the Federal Executive Council (FEC) of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
In his statement, Governor Fintiri conveyed his congratulations to Wike on his successful Senate screening and subsequent appointment. He commended Wike for his outstanding leadership qualities and his commitment to delivering effective governance that meets the needs of the people. Fintiri recalled Wike’s tenure as Governor of Rivers State, where he demonstrated exceptional leadership by prioritizing service and development.
Governor Fintiri expressed his confidence that Wike would continue to contribute to the growth and development of the FCT, much like he did in Rivers State. He affirmed that the appointment was a recognition of Wike’s hard work and accomplishments, underscoring that it is a well-deserved opportunity.
Nyesom Wike was among the 45 ministers inaugurated by President Bola Tinubu, taking up roles in the Federal Executive Council on Monday. Notably, Wike had been part of the G5 governors who opposed their party’s presidential candidate, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, in the lead-up to the February 25, 2023 presidential election. Wike had publicly acknowledged supporting APC flag bearer and winner of the election, Tinubu.
Governor Fintiri’s commendation highlights the recognition of exceptional leadership and the bridge-building aspect of Wike’s appointment, which transcends party affiliations for the collective growth and development of Nigeria.
