Amansea Traffic Gridlock: Ndi Anambra hold APGA led Govt responsible

On The Traffic Gridlock On Enugu-Onitsha Expressway…

Amansea to Amawbia portion of Enugu-Onitsha Expressway… The truth APGA led govt is not telling you.

(1) In 2013, APGA govt of Anambra State applied to the federal government to be given the right to build the road (Amansea to Amawbia) based on the criteria that the federal authorities would refund the state thereafter.

(2) In 2014, the Federal Govt approved the application and asked the Anambra State Govt to build the road pending a refund.

(3) The Anambra State Govt awarded the contract to IDC in 2014.

(4) In 2017, the Federal Govt approved to pay Anambra State Govt N35billion, which is money the Federal Govt owe the State from projects which former Governors Chris Ngige and Peter Obi executed on behalf of the Federal Govt. The money was approved to be paid under Obiano and the state govt promptly acknowledged the role played by the likes of Senator Andy Uba – then a Senator – in making sure that the money was approved for payment.

(5) Around November 2017, the Federal Govt paid N10billion out of the N35billion to the APGA-led Anambra State Govt. Many had expected that Governor Obiano would have committed the funds to reconstructing the Amansea -Amawbia portion of the Expressway.

(6) On December 28, 2018, the APC-led Federal Govt again released the sum of N10.09billion to Governor Obiano as promissory note which matured on December 28, 2020.

Again, the APGA-led Govt did not consider it worthwhile, yet again, to deploy the funds to the fixing of the Amansea to Amawbia road.

(7) On April 1, 2020, the same APC-led Federal Govt released the last batch of N15billion to the Anambra State Govt as promissory note which matured on April 1, 2021.

The question then is: why did the APGA-led Govt fail to use even one billion naira from the N35billion released by the federal authorities for Amansea-Amawbia portion of Enugu/Onitsha expressway that is under the Anambra State govt contract?

(8) It is on the record that the APC Government, which an Obiano’s aide, Okechukwu Emecheta wants to blackmail, has constructed from Amawbia to Umunya portion of the road.

(9) MTN is coming to take over the remaining portion of the Enugu/Onitsha Expressway based on the New Infrastructure Scheme of the Fed Govt. But sadly, the now abandoned Amansea to Amawbia section which was abandoned by APGA won’t be captured in the MTN Financing because it is under the Anambra State contract.
