Anambra APC Congress: Ngige, Moghalu Plot To Stop Congress

Ngige and Moghalu have reportedly teamed up to wrest the party structure from Senator Andy Uba, the party’s candidate in the last guber elections.

Following the emergence of Uba as the new leader of the party, the duo began formulating plans to remove the state party chairman in Chief Basil Ejidike and replace him with their own stooge who would then suspend Senator Uba and a number of his supporters.

When this move failed, the Ngige group then ordered their loyalists to stop attending meetings called by Ejidike.

While Ejidike has been recognised as the authentic chairman of the party and has began to make moves to conduct the ward, local and state congresses for the party.

AT reliably  gathered that the Ngige group had begun making frantic moves to stop the congresses from been conducted as this would surely see the minister and his supporters lose out from controlling the structure of the party within the state.

From plans to sponsor court cases against the congresses to the submission of petitions against Ejidike, the Ngige group is stopping at nothing to decimate the Ejidike leadership.

According to a chieftain who is loyal to the Ngige group, the move to stop the congresses was the only way to preserve Ngige’s claims to leadership, stating that anything short of this would spell doom for the minister and his followers.

However, supporters of Basil Ejidike seem to be unperturbed by the moves to stop the congresses describing the Ngige group as clutching on straws.

They argue that Ejidike asides from following the stipulated process for the conduct of the congress has also led the APC in Anambra well.

They accused Ngige  and Moghalu of pocketing the party and using their positions to favour family members to the detriment of party members who have not benefitted from the party since 2015.

They have also challenged the Ngige group to test their popularity in the forthcoming congress rather than seek to halt it.

They say that under an Andy Uba leadership, party members would begin to enjoy a new deal as well as be better positioned to win forthcoming elections.
