The All Progressive Congress (APC) of Anambra State held two primary elections. This comes after a Court judgement that removed Basil Ejidike as State Chairman and reinstated Emeka Ibeh as the Party Chairman for which his tenure will elapse in August 2022.
When the court judgement was served Basil Ejidike, he flagrantly disobeyed court order and continued to parade himself as the Chairman of the party up till date while Emeka Ibeh went ahead to the National Excos, to serve them a letter, and informed them to recognize him as the authentic state party chairman as directed by the court.
Due to the fact that Basil Ejidike had gotten support from some people in the party, they have deployed deceptive means to ensure the National Working Committee aligns with his illegal chairmanship notwithstanding the clear written court judgement that removed him.
The Congress that will produce the State Working Committee, LGA, and Ward Excos which Basil Ejidike wanted to conduct was stopped by a restraining Court injuction gotten by Emeka Ibeh. But Ejidike disobeyed as usual and carried ahead.
Recall that this same scenario and court judgements were the reason Rivers State did not field any candidates in 2019.
Emeka Ibeh has a court judgement restraining Basil Ejidike and also got an interim injunction stopping him from conducting the congresses but he disobeyed
Following this court order, the party was divided into two factions.
Loyal and real members of the party have continued to support Emeka Ibeh which is why the primaries that were held today had primaries that were conducted by 2 factions led by the illegal Basil Ejidike and the legal Emeka ibeh so party members and especially the Aspirants took different sides hence the conduct of 2 different elections.
From our investigations, the people working with Emeka Ibe are the people with the right footing in the eyes of the law having obtained two court judgement and one restraining order.
We forecast that the people working under Emeka Ibeh will come out victorious if need be that they will need the ruling of the court in declaring the winner of the primaries.
In a press briefing held with Emeka Ibe and Chukuwma Agufugo the party secretary, they confirmed that have informed the party people, INEC, and DSS of how Ejidike has continued to disobey court rulings.
They also said they had a chit chat with the National Legal Adviser who clearly understands the legal implications of Ejidike’s act but due to the deception and inducements metted out on them by Ejidike led faction, the National Working Committee decided to play the game knowing fully well that the Emeka Ibeh camp will do needful in court.
