Anambra Athletes Shortlisted For Tokyo Olympics Trials

Two athletes of Anambra extraction are set to feature in the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) trials for a ticket to the Tokyo Olympics.

The AFN trials which kick-starts tomorrow in Lagos will see US based Favour Ezewuzie featuring in the 110 metres hurdles while Gold medalist at the 20th National Sports Festival (NSF), Nnamdi Chinecherem will seek to consolidate his position in anticipation of the global sports mundial.

Favour Ezewuzie is the daughter of the Special Adviser to the Anambra State Governor on Disability Matters, Barr. Chukwuka Ezewuzie.

Favour Ezewuzie, a student of the Wheaton College Illinois, holds the record as the first Wheaton women’s track and field athlete to earn all-american recognition in four events at an NCAA Championship meet.

She participated in the recent Wheaton Track and Field program (Top Division III) finishing on a high on second position in the 110 metres hurdles (13.81s), 100 metres dash (11.75s) and 200 metres (24.16s).
