Anambra Commissioner Urges Residents to Embrace Cleanliness and Protect Environment

Mr. Felix Odimegwu, the Commissioner for Environment in Anambra state, has called on residents to adopt a culture of cleanliness and avoid activities that could cause environmental damage. He made the statement in Awka, stressing the importance of the Clean, Green and Sustainable Anambra initiative led by Professor Chukwuma Soludo.

Odimegwu emphasized that the vision for cleanliness is a collective responsibility and not the sole responsibility of the government. He expressed regret that the state is losing land to erosion, an environmental issue that he attributed to some of the harmful practices of people in the environment, such as erecting buildings and dumping waste on waterways.

The Commissioner restated the government’s commitment to implementing measures to prevent preventable environmental problems in the state. He warned that the government under Professor Chukwuma Soludo will not take kindly to those who violate environmental regulations.
