Anambra Fa: Mr. Chijioke Onyedika Risks Jail Term For Violating Court Orders

The last may not have been heard about the illegal interference of the Anambra State Government in the affairs of the Anambra FA as fresh trouble appears to be looming for Mr. Chijioke Onyedika who has been illegally parading himself as the Secretary of the State Football governing body.

On the 30th day of October, 2020, Mr. Chuks Ndigwe by an Originating Summons commenced an action in Suit No. A/330/2020 before the High Court of Justice sitting Awka against Mr. Chijioke Onyedika and 4 Others praying the Court to restrain the Defendants including Mr. Chijioke Onyedika from conducting elections into the Board of the Anambra State Football Association (ANSFA) and from further interfering and meddling into the administrative affairs of the Anambra State Football Association Board led by Sen. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah.

Pursuant to the above suit, the Court on the 10th day of November, 2020 made an interim order restraining the Defendants from interfering and meddling into the administrative affairs of the Anambra State Football Association Board led by Sen. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah and subsequently, the Court on the 16th of December, 2020 in an interlocutory decision, ordered the Defendants and parties to the suit to maintain status quo and therefore to refrain from interfering and meddling in the administrative affairs of the Senator Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah’s led Anambra State Football Association Board pending the determination of the suit.

Indeed, it is a matter of regret and great cause of embarrassment that rather than obey the lawful Orders of the High Court of Justice Awka, Mr. Chijioke Onyedika has resorted to parading himself as the Secretary of the Anambra State Football Association and has gone ahead to start the organization of a football tournament tagged: “2021 MY ANAMBRA FOOTBALL “SUPER 8” TOURNAMENT (MAIDEN EDITION) SPONSORED BY ASPIRE FC, ADAZI-ANI” in complete and total disregard, disrespect and disobedience to the lawful Orders of the Court.

These actions of Mr. Chijioke Onyedika in disobeying the lawful orders of the Court are unlawful, amount to Contempt of Court and violate the provisions of Section 203 of the Criminal Code Act which vehemently prohibits disobedience to lawful order issued by a constituted authority, in this case, Hon. Justice Chukwudi Okaa of High Court of Justice, Awka Judicial Division.

The Plaintiff has thus commenced committal proceedings against Mr. Chijioke Onyedika by filing FORM 48 (NOTICE OF CONSEQUENCES OF DISOBEDIENCE TO ORDER OF COURT) at the High Court of Justice sitting in Awka. Mr. Chijioke Onyedika if found guilty, is liable to be committed to prison.

Mr. Onyedika’s Co-travelers in this journey of no return must be wary and cautious lest they sink with chijioke onyeka as conspirators to the disobedience of court orders.
