Anambra Governor’s Wife, Mrs Nonye Soludo, Urges Women to Champion Community Reforms and Ethical Values

Mrs Nonye Soludo, the wife of the Anambra Governor, held a meeting with the wives of traditional rulers at the Governor’s Lodge in Amawbia, emphasizing the importance of teaching children basic etiquettes and preserving cultural values. She called on women to take a lead in community reforms and discussions on health, lifestyle, and organic agriculture during this year’s August meeting.

Addressing the traditional rulers’ wives, Mrs Soludo encouraged them to instill cultural ethics in their children, recognizing women as agents of change in society. She urged them to tackle issues like poor home management, family planning, and wrong parenting.

Furthermore, Mrs Soludo urged the women to actively campaign against domestic violence and child abuse, calling for their prompt intervention whenever such situations arise.

During the meeting, Dr. Forster Ihejiofor, the Anambra State Commissioner for Agriculture, emphasized the significance of healthy food consumption as a form of medicine. He encouraged the women to embrace organic farming, stating that the state government supports agricultural initiatives, especially for women in cooperative groups.

Additionally, Professor Brian Adinma, a medical expert in Obstetrics and Gynecology, addressed the women on women’s health issues. He emphasized the importance of good antenatal care, birth planning, healthy and exclusive breastfeeding, and family planning for women of reproductive age.

The meeting, which was the first in a series involving other important women groups in Anambra State, was led by Mrs. Anurika Okpala, the President of the traditional rulers’ wives in Anambra State. The gathering aimed to empower women to lead community reforms and promote ethical values within their families and society.
