The leading aspirant for the upcoming gubernatorial election in Anambra State and the Chairman Senate Committee on Science and Technology, Senator Uche Ekwunife (Iyom) who in her undisputed and scintillating track records so far, has shown why women are also important and efficient in handling prominent roles in the Country.
Recall In 2007 she was elected into the Federal House of Reps to represent Anaocha/Njikoka/Dunukofia Federal Constituency of Anambra State where she served two terms upon her reelection in 2011as she occupied several leadership positions like the chairman, House Committee on Environment (2011 to 2015) and many others. In 2015 she was further elected into the Nigerian Senate as a Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District in the 8th Senate where she was appointed the Chairman, Senate committee on Petroleum Downstream, after the litigations that shrouded her mandate, she was removed from the office but In 2019, she bounced back with a record breaking and a more overwhelming electoral victory margin than in 2015 as she won the election in all the 7 local government areas of Anambra Central where she is currently the Chairman Senate committee on Science and Technology.
She has continued to be a role model to many, paving the way for women to participate more in politics. Ekwunife in her unending love has continued to provide an unremitting and enormous number of developmental projects and empowerment to the good people of Anambra Central as she earlier stated that – “Each Community in Anambra Central will have at least one completed project by 2021”. As her promises continue to manifest, the good people of Anambra Central are completely overwhelmed that as a lawmaker, she has attracted so many projects and empowerments to the district including the Construction and Rehabilitation of more than 27 Road projects, provision of Solar Street lights, sinking of borehole projects.
Others include, facilitation of Federal employments for over 1000 Anambrarians, Construction of Classroom blocks for Schools, Construction of 3-Bedroom bungalows for the less Privileged in different communities, empowerment and distribution of tricycles to the constituents and other Empowerment and Capacity building programmes, teachings and trainings to the Youths, Women, Traditional Rulers, President Generals, Religious Leaders and also the introduction of numerous number of bills and motions that helped and continued to assist in the development of Anambra state.
Having looked at her meritorious achievements so far, becoming the first lawmaker to attract a construction of road project in Anambra State we can tend not to ponder how dear Anambra State is to her heart as she has made a promise, that if elected the next governor of the state that she will conduct Local Government election in Anambra State within a year in Office which will help in bringing the people nearer to the Government as being the tier of Government closest to the people.
If Given a chance, it will be an era that will not just see the apogee of excellence in Anambra but also the triumph of developmental strides in the State.
Let’s therefore give Senator Uche Ekwunife the mandate to develop the light of the Nation.
