To enhance expeditious dispensation of justice in line with Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s manifesto, Anambra State Ministry of Justice has organized a one day sensitization seminar for law officers, magistrates and police prosecutors in the state.
The programme themed “the import and implementation of Anambra State new Multi-door court house law and amended Administration of Criminal Justice Law, ACJL,” was necessary due to the fact that the success of a judicial system is often measured in terms of its ability to provide timely justice to parties in dispute, instead suffering them in courts on daily basis.
According to theAttorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Professor Sylvia Ifemeje in her address, the ACJL provides for the administration of criminal justice system that promotes efficient management of criminal justice institutions, speedy dispensation of justice, protection of the society from crimes and rights and interest of the suspect, the defendant and victims in Nigeria.
Speaking on the topic, ‘co-relation between the amended ACJL, Multi-door Court House Law and expeditious dispensation of justice In Anambra State”, Professor Ifemeje, stated that Nigerian Justice System is overburdened, expensive, complex and cumbersome, adding that these observed shortcomings have given rise to the expedient need to deploy an alternative system like Multi-door court house and ACJL.
She said that Governor Soludo’s administration is poised to ensure that justice is expeditiously dispensed in the state, telling the participants that if they effectively realize the importance of the two innovative laws and implement them religiously, then delay of dispensation of justice will become a thing of the past.
Anambra State Chief Judge, Justice Onochie Anyachebelu represented by Justice David Onyefulu, Head of Service, Barrister Theodora Igwegbe, and Solicitor General, Barrister Ngozi Iwuno were present at the event.
