Anambra Schools Brace For COVID-19 Battle, As Resumption Set For Next Monday

By Daniel Ezeigwe

Secondary schools in Anambra State seem to have geared up for the COVID-19 battle, with adequate preparatory measures already on different school grounds to ensure that when students return from the long Christmas break, there would not be any worry as to the spread of the deadly virus.

The first term of the 2020/2021 Academic Session which was halved by the Christmas break, was scheduled to begin on the 2nd of January, 2021, but was shifted twice by the government to enable schools prepare against COVID-19, with the second wave of the virus already wrecking havocs across the country.

These government directives seem to have been met by explicit response from the schools visited by the ABS crew across Awka and environs.

While mobile water taps along with bottles of liquid soap and hand sanitizer have been placed at strategic points in the schools, COVID-19 preventive notices, flyers and other related instructions could be seen at different points to connote the imperative of the war against the virus.

Seating arrangements in different classrooms have also been spaced out, make-shift isolation rooms and sick bay provided, while heads of schools and teachers on ground have their facemasks fittingly on.

Schools resume in Anambra State on February 1, 2021, for the completion of first term of the 2020/2021 session.
