Anambra State House of Assembly has renewed the tenure of the Chairmen and members of Transition Committees of the twenty-one Local Government Areas of the State for another three months.
The House renewed their tenure in line with section two hundred and eight of the Local Government law as requested by Governor Chukwuma Soludo during yesterday’s plenary in Awka.
The House considered the request of Governor Soludo at the committee of the whole by extending their tenure for another three months.
The Speaker of the House, Right Honourable Uche Okafor read out the resolution of the House, while the lawmakers supported it through a voice vote.
In a remark, the Speaker observed that the Transition Committee Chairmen are living up to expectations in their various Local Government Areas and charged them to sustain the good job they are doing for the State and always work with their representatives in the State House of Assembly to attract more dividends of democracy to their various Local governments.
In a vote of thanks, the Transition Committee Chairman of Ayamelum Local Government Area, Mr. Livinus Onyenwe who spoke on behalf of others assured that they will continue to discharge their duties creditably in accordance with the Local government law.
The Transition Committee Chairman of Orumba South Local government area, Prince Neville Uchendu and his Awka South counterpart Mr Thankgod Anago expressed appreciation to Governor Soludo for finding them worthy to serve their various Local Government Areas for another three months, assuring that they will redouble efforts to surpass their previous achievements.
