As part of its efforts towards curbing the spread of Covid-19, Anambra state government has through the Covid-19 Protocol Enforcement Team arrested and prosecuted more eighty persons for flouting of Covid-19 safety protocols.
The defaulters were picked from commercial buses, tricycles, road sides, various junctions and roundabouts within Awka and its environs.
The state Covid-19 Protocol Enforcement Team led the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Willie Obiano on Legal Matters, Barrister Chika Ekwenugo was accompanied by security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force, Civil Defense, and Anambra State Traffic Management Agency, ARTMA.
The defaulters were taken to Magistrate Court Amawbia where Magistrate Mike Anyadiegwu who preceded over the cases charged them for ten thousand naira, seven thousand naira, five thousand, two thousand, and community service based on reasons presented before the court.
