Anambra State Government Enhances Local Government Data Management with Training and Laptops Distribution

In a bid to elevate data management capabilities within local governance, the Anambra State government recently orchestrated a comprehensive training program for the Heads of Departments of Budget, Planning, Research, and Statistics (BPRS) from all 21 Local Government Areas. This initiative was underscored by the distribution of brand-new laptops to these officials, a strategic move in line with Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s forward-looking vision of bolstering the state’s workforce with digital tools to amplify work efficiency.

Conducted under the theme “Empowering Data-Driven Governance Through Technology,” the one-day training event was a collaborative effort between the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, and the Anambra State ICT Agency. The session aimed to equip participants with the skills to harness technology effectively for accurate data sourcing, processing, and utilization.

During the ceremony held at the JAAC Conference Room in the Government House, Awka, the Anambra State Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Hon. Tony-Collins Nwabunwanne, presented the laptops. In his address, Hon. Nwabunwanne lauded the initiative for its timeliness and alignment with Governor Soludo’s commitment to modernizing the state workforce and transforming Anambra into a technology-driven hub.

Hon. Nwabunwanne expressed gratitude to the Governor for his visionary policies aimed at propelling the state civil service to greater heights. He urged government officials to capitalize on the newly provided equipment to enhance their operational efficiency and overall productivity.

Chukwuemeka Agbata, the Managing Director of the Anambra ICT Agency, echoed the Governor’s aspiration to prioritize technology in all state affairs. He stressed the significance of maximizing data collection for meticulous planning and seamless execution of projects. Agbata encouraged the participants to ensure the tangible impact of these work tools on the state government’s endeavors, assuring them of the ICT agency’s unwavering support.

Mr. Vin Ezeaka, Chairman of the Anambra State Local Government Service Commission (LGSC), underlined the pivotal role of data in effective service delivery. He commended the adoption of digital work tools for data collection as a commendable stride towards advancement.

The Heads of Budget Planning, Research, and Statistics (BPRS) departments from Onitsha North and Nnewi North, Chijioke Okafor and Uche Ogbonna respectively, expressed gratitude to the Governor for the valuable training and laptops. They pledged a positive transformation in their productivity as a result of these interventions.

The Anambra State government’s commitment to cultivating a tech-forward environment and enhancing data-driven governance is apparent through this latest endeavor, signaling a progressive direction for the state’s local governance practices.
