Anambra State Launches Pilot Phase of Solution Free Public Wi-Fi in Awka

Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has propelled the state into a technologically advanced era with the launch of the Solution Wi-Fi initiative’s pilot phase in collaboration with Pineheight Systems Limited. This initiative, a manifestation of promises made in the People’s Manifesto, signifies a monumental step towards transforming Anambra State into a smart mega city.

Governor Soludo, in his visionary manifesto, pledged to provide cheap and eventually free Wi-Fi hotspots in public places, aligning with the state’s emergence into the digital age. Collaborating with development partners, the Anambra State ICT Agency, led by MD/CEO Chukwuemeka Fred Agbata (CFA), aims to deploy broadband access to schools and public libraries, ensuring widespread internet access.

Operational in strategic locations in Awka, namely Aroma Junction, Book Foundation, and UNIZIK Back gate, the Solution Wi-Fi offers users one hour of free internet access every 24 hours during the pilot phase. CFA highlights the importance of these locations for students and businesses, foreseeing a boost in educational activities and enhanced online presence for businesses.

Emphasizing the broader vision of “Everything Technology, Technology Everywhere,” CFA envisions collaboration with development partners to provide broadband access, fostering internet accessibility across all segments of society. The Solution Wi-Fi not only serves as a practical resource but also encourages the creation of content, potentially leading to revenue generation for the youth.

Accessing the free Solution Wi-Fi involves SMS authentication, reinforcing Anambra State’s commitment to technological excellence. The state’s recent accolades at the National Council on Communication, Innovation, and Digital Economy (NCCIDE) meeting in Kano further affirm its commitment to digital technology development, infrastructure, and e-government implementation.
