Anambra Women Commissioner, Obinabo Receives Flag Of Peace From UN-PEPOLAC

The United Nations Peace and Positive Living Awareness Centre UN-PEPOLAC, has called on African to embrace peace to achieve sustainable development and progress.

The UN-PEPOLAC’s International Coordinator for Nigeria, Right Reverend Dr Ozioma Ozoemena made the call when he led members of the organization on a courtesy on the Anambra State Commissioner for Women and Social Welfare, Mrs Ify Obinabo in Awka.

The Centre used the visit to honour the commissioner with flag of peace.

While explaining that the organization, which has the motto, “Think Globally, Act Locally”, Bishop Ozoemena said the organization is committed to promoting the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals and UNESCO’s culture of peace project and positive living, noting that peace has no alternative, and that for sustainable development, good governance, adequate security of life and property to thrive, there must be peace.

Dr Ozoemena explained that the organization had gone to communities to establish structures that will enthrench love and, and announced that the organization is proud of the activities of Mrs Obinabo in ensuring that justice is enthroned.

He used the occasion to invite the Commissioner to the World Peace Day celebration slated for September 23, 2022.

Responding, Mrs Obinabo, who described peace as a fundamental factor for the progress of any society , encouraged the group to speed up their campaigns, especially on issues concerning the society as record has shown that women are mostly abused and marginalized in families and the larger society.

Commissioner Obinabo also assured them of the support and partnership of the Ministry towards the success of World Peace Day celebration and the collective movement.

In a vote of thanks, the Traditional Ruler of Ifitedunu, Igwe Emeka Ilouno, who is also member of the organization, extolled the Commissioner for her doggedness and commitment to the challenges facing the women in Anambra State.
