In a significant move aimed at expanding its membership base, Senator Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), revealed that the party’s leadership is in the process of formulating a comprehensive blueprint. This strategic plan aims to boost the party’s membership and consolidate its influence within the political landscape.

The announcement was made on Wednesday after a closed-door meeting between Senator Ganduje and Simon Lalong, the immediate past Governor of Plateau State. During the interaction, Senator Ganduje highlighted the party’s commitment to fostering growth and inclusivity across all levels of its organizational structure.

In light of recent political discussions, Senator Ganduje addressed the visit of Nyesom Wike, the immediate past Governor of Rivers State, to his residence in Abuja on Monday. Contrary to speculations surrounding Wike’s potential defection to the APC, Senator Ganduje clarified that the visit was not related to any such move. He emphasized that their conversations focused on Wike’s ministerial designation and his commitment to contributing effectively to the role once fully appointed.

Acknowledging the potential impact of a prominent figure like Nyesom Wike joining the APC, Senator Ganduje remarked that such a defection could enhance the party’s prospects in the forthcoming 2027 elections. He emphasized, “It will certainly improve the chances of our party, especially in 2027.”

Senator Ganduje went on to explain, “We are in the process of crafting a new blueprint to enhance the party’s appeal and attract a broader spectrum of officials. This initiative encompasses individuals currently affiliated with the APC, as well as those from other political parties. In fact, we are working discreetly to facilitate potential mergers with other parties, a strategy that is being pursued behind the scenes.”

As the APC advances with its plan to bolster membership and strengthen its organizational structure, the political landscape in Nigeria anticipates potential shifts and realignments in the lead-up to future elections.
