The meeting was, presided over by our only indefatigable national chairman, Ozonkpu Dr Victor Ike Oye.

In a consensus resolution reached by the NWC of the party, the following dates were declared viz

  1. Ward congresses- Wednesday, May 17, 2023
  2. Local government congresses- Saturday, May 20, 2023
  3. State and zonal congresses- May 23, 2023
  4. National Convention- Wednesday, May- 31, 2023.

Consequently, several vital issues concerning the progress of the party were addressed.

Ozonkpu stated clearly that the next convention will be held in Anambra state and that the 21 days notice has been given to INEC as required by law.

The national chairman of APGA, Ozonkpu stated that APGA did very well in the last elections, despite the misconceived impact of the labour party particularly in the presidential/national assembly elections.

It was obvious by the states/ house of assembly elections, that the picture had become clearer to Nigerians who then voted for candidates of their choice, contrary to the tsunami of the national elections.

In that regard, APGA won a senatorial seat in Abia, by Enyinaya Abaribe who defeated a sitting governor.

APGA also won a House of Assembly seat in Taraba,2 seats in Bayelsa, and 17 in Anambra State among others.

Ozonkpu is optimistic that more seats will be won from court cases already instituted.

APGA also won some House of Representatives seats.

The suspension of APGA members by the state working committee ( SWC) in Enugu was reversed by the national working committee(NWC) of the party.

The Convention committee was formed and inaugurated with Alhaji Adamu, the APGA deputy national chairman north as the chairman of the committee.

Ozonkpu poured encomiums on the members of the NWC for their maximum cooperation during the past 7years of his administration as the national chairman of the party and prayed for a continuous harmonious relationship even after the disengagement of some members.

The deputy national chairman south Chief Uchenna Okogbuo gave a vote of thanks on behalf of NWC and prayed that God will continue to bless and protect Ozonkpu and his family, for his benevolence and humanitarian approach in dealing with members of NWC and APGA in general.

Chief Okogbuo also solicited that the national chairman who vowed to operate a laissez-faire attitude after leaving office to still be there for the incoming NWC, for them to borrow from his wealth of experience.

He eulogized his dexterity and indefatigably in running the affairs of the party for the past 7 years.

He praised the national chairman Ozonkpu, more for the unequalled legacy projects he established in acquiring a humongous national secretariat in Abuja and the building of a southeast 5-story building office edifice in Awka.

He urged the incoming administration to keep consulting Ozonkpu for a seamless, continuous transformation and progress of AGPA.

He pleaded that Ozonkpu would make himself available and accessible to the incoming administration to tap from his wealth of experience.

The meeting ended in praise, as assurances were given to the NWC for an enviable end.
