APGA Clears Hon. (Dr) Ikechukwu Okakpu for Njikoka Chairmanship Primaries

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has released the provisional list of successfully screened aspirants for the 2026 Local Government Mayoral/Chairmanship primaries across the 21 Local Government Areas of Anambra State, with Hon. (Dr) Ikechukwu Okakpu (OKD Jr) officially cleared to contest the Njikoka Local Government chairmanship ticket.

The list, dated Saturday, 15th February, 2026, was issued by the party’s National Secretariat following the completion of the screening exercise for all aspirants seeking the party’s ticket. According to the document, Hon. (Dr) Okakpu emerged as the cleared aspirant for Njikoka LGA, confirming his eligibility to participate in the APGA primaries scheduled to hold today across the state.

 

The announcement was signed by Mazi Ejimofor Opara, National Publicity Secretary of All Progressives Grand Alliance, who congratulated all aspirants that scaled through the screening process and wished accredited delegates a successful outing during the primaries.

Observers within Njikoka LGA have described Hon. (Dr) Ikechukwu Okakpu’s clearance as a significant milestone in his political journey, noting his growing acceptance and the confidence reposed in him by the party’s screening committee. Widely known as OKD Jr, he is regarded by supporters as a grassroots-oriented aspirant with a strong understanding of local governance and community development.

Supporters and well-wishers have since extended congratulatory messages to Hon. (Dr) Okakpu, expressing optimism that his participation in the primaries will further strengthen APGA’s presence and unity in Njikoka LGA.

As the primaries commence, party stakeholders have called for peaceful conduct, internal democracy, and adherence to APGA’s guiding principles, while wishing all cleared aspirants a credible and successful electoral exercise.
