The ambition of the former Personal Assistant on Official Matters, Director of Poultry, Chief of Staff and supervisory council for education, culture and tourism in Asari-toru LGA, a businessman and Philanthropist, Hon. Tekenari Harry to represent the good people of Asari-toru constituency 1 in the Rivers state house of Assembly has received a major boost from the six (6) wards in the Local Government Area.
Men, Women and youths from the six wards came out in their numbers very early in the morning and later in the afternoon on different days on a street rallying without the knowledge and presence of the leading candidate in the Rivers state house of Assembly election, Hon. Tekenari Harry, and declared their total support for the candidate of the Allied People’s Movement (APM).
One of the day participants who spoke to Daily News Reporters said, “from the assessment of the jubilant crowd made up of men, women and youths, you saw in the viral video, is that, Hon. Tekenari Harry is far and above all other candidates in the race and will best serve the collective interest of the good people of constituency 1”.
She stated that their open endorsement not minding their political or party affiliation was clear evidence of the confidence they have in his capacity to deliver having been impacted by his Philanthropic gestures in the constituency even before he nursed the ambition to offer themselves to serve his people.
According to Mrs B. George, Miss R. Amachree, Mr Braid, Hon. T. Tariah, and other sources, TK’s records in providing jobs for the teeming unemployed youths, and human capital development for people in the Constituency resonated with them.
Our reporter asked another participant how possible is it for Allied People’s Movement (APM) party to win an election in a PDP stronghold like constituency 1, and he said, TK, as the APM candidate is popular called, “is our Peter Obi and he is accessible, approachable, compassionate and have respect for elders”.
“Check the records, we did it in 2019 by voting for the SDP candidate as against the PDP candidate and he won, though PDP went behind to subvert the will of the people via the court”.
“The skyrocketing popularity of the APM candidate, Hon. Tekenari Harry, aka TK, has dwarfed the chances and popularity of the PDP and its candidate and APC and its candidate in the constituency. And also TK’s acceptability in constituency 1 has activated sleeping mood for both PDP and APC”.
“We will repeat the same thing on March 11, 2023, by voting for the APM candidate overwhelmingly and protecting it. We have grown above party sentiment in our constituency which was why SDP won in 2019 and APM will win in 2023. And that PDP and APC imposition of unpopular candidate has made them unpopular in the constituency, so it not only possible but APM will win the constituency 1 assembly,” he concluded.
