Atiku Appeals to Voters in Adamawa Ahead of Governorship Supplementary Polls

Ahead of the governorship supplementary polls scheduled for April 15, Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has urged voters to support his party in the upcoming elections. Abubakar made the appeal in Yola, the capital of Adamawa, according to a statement released on Thursday by his media adviser, Paul Ibe.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared the March 18 governorship election in Adamawa and Kebbi states inconclusive, leading to the scheduling of the supplementary polls. The commission will also conduct supplementary polls in five senatorial districts, 31 federal constituencies, and 58 state constituencies across the country.

Abubakar specifically called on voters in Adamawa and Kebbi to vote “overwhelmingly” for the PDP governorship candidates. “It is an established fact that the APC has failed the people of this country and, especially, in Kebbi state, the more reason it is incumbent on the electorate to vote them out and return the PDP,” he said.

Abubakar, who came second in the February 25 presidential election, is challenging the election outcome at the tribunal along with his party, the PDP.
