Atiku Withdraws Case, Takes Presidential Election Dispute to Higher Court in Illinois

Abuja—Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 election, has taken legal action against President Bola Tinubu by filing case No. 23-5099 (N. D. III.) at the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.

According to Mr. Phrank Shaibu, Atiku’s Special Assistant on Public Communications, this new lawsuit comes as a result of the former vice president’s decision to withdraw an ongoing case from a circuit court in Illinois. The move was made to prevent any potential abuse of court processes and to pursue the matter in a higher court.

In a statement released in Abuja, Shaibu stated, “Atiku Abubakar’s withdrawal of the case from the Circuit Court of Cook County, Illinois County, United States of America, is merely the initial step in his legal strategy. This is a new phase.”

Shaibu further commented on the reaction of President Tinubu and his supporters to the development, likening their excitement to a Supreme Court judgment. He also highlighted concerns about President Tinubu’s academic records, noting that his inability to identify a single former classmate raised questions about the authenticity of his educational history.

“In recent days, the Senate’s ministerial screening has brought to light the educational backgrounds of the nominees, with some even being classmates of the senators conducting the screening. Strikingly, the individual who nominated them lacks any traceable educational history, having no primary, secondary, or university classmates. It’s as if he appeared out of thin air,” Shaibu remarked.
