The leading governorship aspirant under the platform of PDP, Uche Ekwunife, has reiterated that she will run an all-inclusive government, noting that her government will implement the Awka master plan and accelerate public infrastructure to give the capital territory befitting status.
Ekwunife, who had on Sunday, March 7, 2021, visited PDP Awka South LGA in continuation of her ongoing LGA tour said that Awka as well as Anambra state at large needs a government that will use the resources of the state in promoting the general well-being of residents. The Senator noted that her family has lived in the state capital for circa 22 years, and that she understands the state and its challenges more than any other person in the guber race.
Talking on, the Chairman Senate Committee on Science and Technology said that she was the first lawmaker from Anambra state to attract a road project. The Igbo-Ukwu born Senator told delegates that capacity and competence of who becomes the next governor of Anambra State should be determined by antecedents. She advised that in looking out for the best candidate to succeed the incumbent that governance should not be reduced to gender.
Welcoming the Senator, the PDP Awka South Chairman, Barr Emma Odum spoke highly of Ekwunife for the numerous projects she attracted in the LGA. He described the Senator as an indigene of the LGA, according to him the federal lawmaker has lived in Awka for more than two decades. The party Chairman said that he was convinced that Ekwunife will achieve victory for the party once she emerges as the party candidate.
On his part, Chief Emeka Eze (Omega) assured Ekwunife that the LGA is strongly behind her guber ambition. He described her as a very accessible and people-oriented Senator. Chief Eze promised that the delegates from the LGA will give Ekwunife their support because she has the experience to become the next governor.
Reacting, Chief Vincent Odum (African Chief) commended Ekwunife for the sterling representation, saying that he is very proud to be part of the project. He advised delegates to queue behind the Senator and ensure that no single vote is lost on the day of primary election.
In her remarks, the LGA women leader, Mrs. Dora Oguocha on behalf of the women commended Ekwunife for being courageous and hardworking in National Assembly. She said that Ekwunife represents a source of inspiration and motivation for women, while noting that the women delegates will support her to become the next governor.
Earlier during the meeting, Mr. Josiah Ifedi advised delegates not to make mistake in the selection process of candidate. He said that all hands must be on deck to ensure that Ekwunife emerges the party flag bearer.
