Awka Diocese Marks 35th World Youth Day Celebration

The Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Reverend Paulinus Ezeokafor has admonished youths against indulging in nefarious activities capable of jeopardizing their future.

Most Reverend Ezeokafor gave the advice at a special mass held at Assumption Parish, Nimo to mark this year’s world youth day celebration of the Catholic Youth Organisation of Nigeria (CYON) Awka Diocese.

Represented by the Vicar General Two, Awka Diocese, Reverend Father Peter Akaenyi, Bishop Ezeokafor lamented that lack of fear of God and indiscipline on the part of youths have robbed young people of their vital position in the society and charged CYON to concentrate on building the spiritual lives of the youth in order to make them useful to the society.

The World Youth Day Celebration is an event for young people organised by the catholic church to remind youths of their roles in church and nation building.

It was initiated by Pope John Paul l l in 1985.

The member representing Njikoka Constituency 2 in the Anambra state House of Assembly, Hon. Dr. Pete Ibida and several other dignitaries attended the mass service.
