Ballon d’Or Award: Sadio Mane Wins First Socrates Award For Charity Work

Senegalese football captain, Sadio Mane, has won the first Socrates Award at this year’s Ballon d’Or.

The Ballon d’Or organisers added a humanitarian prize to this year’s ceremony named for Socrates, the Brazil midfielder, who also held a medical degree.

“The Socrates Prize will identify the best social initiative by committed champions,” a statement from the France Football magazine said in September.
