Battle For APGA Ticket: Women Leader, Youth Leader, Others Sacked

The battle for the ticket of APGA has consumed some members of the party’s state working committee. Last night, AIF Media intercepted another information that about 4 party officers have been sacked.

These party officers were sacked over power play going on among the aspirants and their powerful supporters.

The party officials sacked are;
1. State Women Leader, Mrs Gloria Udevi
2. State Youth Leader, Magnus Uche Eziokwu
3. State Deputy Youth Leader, Odoji Samuel Chike
4. State Assistant Financial Secretary, Miss Vivian Nkiruka Okafor.

They were all sacked last night for holding political appointments as well as being party officers at the same time. According to the letter of dismissal issued to them, the party said it is against the APGA constitution as provided in, article 25 which states that a party official cannot hold dual office.

AIF Media gathered that the State Women Leader, Gloria Udevi who is from Aguleri, Anambra East LGA is an Executive Assistant, EA Protocol Officer to the Governor.

The State APGA Assistant Financial Secretary, Vivian Okafor, is from Eziowelle in Idemili North LGA. She is currently the Organizing Secretary of U-AYA and Executive Assistant to the Governor.

Magnus Uche Eziokwu, the State APGA Youth Leader. He is from Ihiala in Ihiala LGA. He was made the youth leader of APGA because he was the secretary of U-AYA then. He is now SSA to the Governor on Political Matters.

Chike Samuel Odoji is the State APGA Deputy Youth Leader and currently the SSA to the Governor on IGR. He is from Umudioka, in Dunukofia LGA. He is the Caretaker PG of the town.

These 4 officers of APGA were sacked yesterday by the party for accepting the appointments as aides to the governor against article 25 of the APGA constitution.

Article 25 reads;
“PROHIBITION FROM HOLDING DUAL OFFICES. Subject to the provisions of this constitution, any member holding a Party Office at any level shall be deemed to have resigned that position if he/she assumes any of the following offices:
1. President of the Federation
2. The Vice President
3. Governors and Deputy Governor
4. Minister, Ambassador and Special Adviser/Special Assistant
5. Member of the National and State Assemblies
6. Commissioner and Special Adviser
7. Chairman, Deputy Chairman and Councilor of the Local Government Councils
8. Any Full time EMPLOYMENT or APPOINTMENT in the public service.

Except if the holding of such dual or more offices is approved by the National Convention of the party”.

Meanwhile, AIF Media was informed authoritatively that these party officers have been holding their appointments with govt and at the same time remained party officers for years without any dispute. But they were sacked last night over the ongoing power play among the Governorship Aspirants.
