The administrative policy of this APGA govt in using “caretakership” to run all components and levels of govt in the state is beginning to worry sane minds. The APGA govt is using caretaker leadership to administer local govt councils and in most communities election of President Generals are jettisoned and caretaker PGs are imposed.
Recently, 12 traditional rulers were suspended and these communities will likely be headed by “Caretaker Igwes.” We also know the imposition of caretaker on the state FA. One recurring decimal in all these is the policy of either stopping elections to impose a caretaker or dissolving a democratically elected executives to bring in a caretaker.
Let’s take example of what’s happening in Awa community in Orumba south LGA. Some members of the cabal are working seriously to impose a new caretaker. Awa Development Union was to hold election on April 22, 2019 before the govt stopped the election and imposed a caretaker on the community.
In a letter dated April 22, 2019 and addressed to the governor, the Awa Development Union stated that the community had no crisis to warrant the suspension of the town’s election and appealed to His Excellency to use his good offices to intervene and stop the move to foist a caretaker leadership on them.
But their letter didn’t do much as the govt went ahead to impose a caretaker on Awa town. Information at our disposal revealed that the cabal is planning to sack the present caretaker in Awa and impose another one.
Inside sources have it that the cabal has been milking Marxis with a promise to install his caretaker structure for the town union leadership this month, and subsequently crown him the Igwe-Elect of Awa town in Orumba North LGA. Several meetings have been held at Abuja and Bon Hotel Awka to ratify this plot.
Information AIF Media got lately has it that Marxis is beginning to be uncomfortable as he sees double standard in the whole plan and has alledgely complained to some of his confidants, as they placed a long pipe on his pocket, sucking him financially.
The APGA govt initiated this crisis in Awa by installing a caretaker committee in a town that NEVER had crisis. AIF Media gathered that some stakeholders in the town have headed to court, vowing that they won’t continue to allow Agu Awka cabal to continue manipulating the town.
The crisis in Awa Development Union is beginning to snowball into a political crisis in Orumba north. Some stakeholders of Ohaneze and ASA USA have waded in and are dialoging to resolve this before it turns to a public embarrassment.
A source told AIF Media that Awa town has been abandoned since the last administration of gov Peter Obi. He stated that the only “dividends” of democracy the town got from the incumbent is imposition of Caretaker leadership on their town Union.
AIF Media therefore appealed to the state govt to look into this brewing crisis in Awa and find amicable way to resolving it.
Finally, as this govt winds done in the next 18 months, the policy of Caretaker imposition is not fashionable. People should be allowed to elect their leaders at all levels. This will not only guarantee peace, it will help govt in bringing development to the rural areas.
