CBN Governor Emefiele assures of potent monetary policies to tackle inflation

The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, has assured the public that the bank is implementing strong monetary policies to combat the inflation affecting Nigeria.

The International Monetary Fund and World Bank’s Spring Meetings in Washington DC has been discussing global inflation, with the IMF urging countries, particularly low-income ones, to align their fiscal and monetary policies to tackle inflation and build buffers for unexpected situations.

Emefiele stated that the bank’s tightening stance has been praised by the IMF, and that growing revenue and prudent spending will be essential to contain inflation.
