Chibok Girl Bags Accounting Degree 7 Years After Release From Boko Haram Captivity

Mary Katambi who was among the 276 girls abducted by Boko Haram members in 2014, has just bagged a degree in Accounting from the American University of Nigeria (AUN).

Recall that in April 2014, the sect members stormed the Government Girls Secondary School (GGSS), Chibok in Borno state, and abducted the female students. Mary was one of the lucky few who managed to escape from the sect members.

Former Vice President and founder of the University, Atiku Abubakar, took to his social media platforms to share photos of Mary at the graduation ceremony.

Posting photos of himself with Mary and the President of the African Development Bank, Akinwunmi Adesina, Atiku wrote;

“Mary Katambi, I’m proud that seven years after your release from Boko Haram captivity, you’ve beaten the odds to graduate with a degree in accounting from American University of Nigeria. The best years are still ahead of you,”
