In a bid to promote academic excellence among students, Chronicles Software, an education technology company, has announced its plan to award a cash prize of N2 million to exceptional students who excel in the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) in Lagos State.
Speaking to reporters, Mr. Oluwakoyejo Oluwatosin, the CEO of Chronicles Software, expressed the company’s goal of celebrating and encouraging outstanding academic performance. He emphasized that the award would recognize top-performing students in the WAEC examinations, taking into account their overall grades, including performance in core subjects such as Mathematics, English, and Science.
Oluwatosin stated, “We firmly believe in rewarding and celebrating academic excellence, and we are dedicated to supporting students in achieving their educational aspirations. The Success BOX Excellence Award aims to motivate students to strive for excellence and unlock their full potential in their studies.”
The N2 million cash prize will be distributed among the top 10 students who performed exceptionally well in the WAEC examinations. Additionally, each of the ten students will receive a certificate of excellence and a complimentary subscription to Chronicles Software’s SuccessBOX exam preparation software.
The award ceremony, scheduled for October 2023, will be a prestigious event attended by notable dignitaries, including government officials, educators, parents, and students.
To be eligible for the award, students must have taken the WAEC examinations and achieved A grades in at least seven core subjects. The selection process will prioritize transparency and be solely based on merit. The winners will receive their awards during a live television and social media ceremony.
Chronicles Software recognizes the pivotal role education plays in unlocking the potential of youth and remains committed to supporting students throughout their academic journey.
Commenting on the initiative, Mr. Abayomi Abolaji, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, commended Chronicles Software and encouraged more private sector organizations to invest in education, as doing so ultimately invests in the future of the country.
