The chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, has said that the claim that the commission has refused to display the voters’ register is false.
This was revealed in a video shared on INEC’s official Twitter handle on Friday.
Mahmood said, “It has become necessary to make an important clarification in respect of a statement attributed to a section of civil society organisations. The commission was accused of failure to display the voters’ register as provided by Section 19 Subsection 1 of the Electoral Act 2022. This claim is incorrect.”
He added that the recently-displayed register consisted of the new registrations but that the comprehensive list would be displayed at a yet-to-be-determined date.
