The Coca-Cola Foundation has launched a Digital Skilling and Employment Project (DSEP) in Imo State, aiming to train 210,000 youths in various digital skills to boost employment opportunities in the state.
Uche Ogbonna, Senior Manager, Social Impact, Strategy, Public Affairs, Communications, and Sustainability (PACS) Africa Operating Unit, said that the project would be catalytic and would impact beneficiaries who could pass on their training to others, leading to a reduction in poverty rates.
The training, which will focus on web development, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and cloud computing, among others, will also boost economic activities in the South East.
The project, funded by Coca-Cola in collaboration with the Centre for Social Awareness, Advocacy and Ethics (CSAAE), Corporate Imo Impact Partners (CIIP), and the Ministry of Digital Economy, Imo State, is part of the foundation’s global initiative to contribute to youth development initiatives. The 24-month program will provide beneficiaries with laptops and workstations upon completion of the training.
