A few days ago, some unknown gunmen attacked the convoy of Nigerian cleric Apostle Johnson Suleman. During the attack, 7 of his security detail and junior pastors died.

Immediately after the incident, the clergyman posted several videos on his page showing bullet holes that punctuated his vehicles.
Later, he released a video statement in which said he said the attackers failed to kill him and his family because he is a man of God. I find this statement very disturbing.
What about the others who were killed? Were they not men of God?
The truth of the matter is that Apostle Suleman and his family survived the attack because they were in a bulletproof vehicle while his pastors and security detail were in ordinary cars. He didn’t survive because he was more of a man of God than the others.
Our clerics need to realize that when such a disaster occurs, it’s time to be humble and just convey condolences to the families of those who passed on. It’s not time for the usual pomposity.
I want to believe that statement from the cleric injured the families of those who perished. It wasn’t fair at all!
